Hey gang! Today is a very special day! ... it is a "holy day" here in my NET world... a holy day of absolutely NO, i repeat, NO obligations!! How cool is that?!? We get about one day every month or so in which we can do whatever we want (within reason of course), and we don't have to even see our teammates if we don't want to! =) Of course I love my team, so I don't really mind if they're around or not, but it's a day where I don't have to look at the schedule or make any plans for anyone! =) I don't really even make plans for myself, I just go with the flow! Like right now, it's 12:50 and I'm still in my pjs! All I've done so far today was get up at 10:30am just in time to finish watching the Price is Right! Ate some breakfast, got online and checked my e-mail, set up an interview for a summer job, and talked to Lee on aol im! Yup pretty productive day! I LOVE IT!!
The BEST part about today-- I'm making TACO SALAD for dinner!!!!!! Hooray! Our host mom Val, an elderly widowed woman asked if we liked to cook and I told her about my taco salad and she took Kristin and I shopping for all the ingredients!! Hooray! What an awesome day!
Other than that things are going swell over here! I actually had an awesome God-sighting last night on retreat! We had a living your faith retreat with 6th-12th graders about 55 of them, and I wasn't speaking or leading so I actually got to have a small group!! Yay! And one of the ladies in my group was totally gung-ho about being at this retreat so it pumped me up a bit! Anyway, small groups went well, but i didn't think there was anything that super great about this one, no huge revelations or whatever for the teens... but then after the retreat I tried to track down this gal to talk to her more about NET, but she had scampered out... so then Kristin paged a miss "joyful julie" over to see her, and she had an envelope for me! It was a 2-page letter from Lindsay just talking about how awesome the retreat was and how it totally helped her to know that she can live out her faith and not have to be scared about what others think, and even told me some about her past , and then just said how she saw Christ in me and how it was really easy to talk to me and all that jazz... and that she's been on tons of other NET retreats, but she's always been the teen in the corner, saying "i don't want to be here my parents made me come"... but this time, b/c I was open with my faith and life stories it allowed her to feel the same way! YAY GOD!! Isn't God great?!? I think so!!
What else? Oh yeah, JERRY'S ENGAGED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NOWAY-!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YESWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WAYTOGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!CRAZYNESS!!!!!!!!
Yeah, no joke, so not only did John JUST get married, but now Jerry is all set to go as well!! If you want to read the whole story check out jcarleton.com and go to Jerry's page and you can get both Heather and Jerry's sides of the day they got engaged!! Congrats you two! I must admit, I was a bit shoked, to say the least, when i found out Jerry was getting married!! But after getting over myself, I know that this is totally right, and a God thing too!! Congrats Heather, you're gettin' one heck of a man!
Other than that, not a whole lot new with me! Okay, well, Jerry did just forward me some info. about a summer camp job in New York... it sounded right up my alley, so Corinne and I applied online the other night, and the same night we got a call back from the place asking for us for a phone interview! =) So, we'll see how that goes! AnD, I'm gettin ready to fill out my application for NET staff here in a bit! I figure if I want to determine what God's will is in my life I have to have some options to discern between right?!? So, I'm just going to start applying and then once I have some options really start praying about it! =)
Alrighty, well I think that about enough from me for awhile!
